True Value Gift Card Balance FAQs

How do I check my True Value gift card balance?

Have your card number ready, then check online on the official True Value balance-check page or in store by asking a cashier. The exact steps are listed at the top of this page.

What do I need to check my True Value balance?

The card number printed on the front of your card. Many issuers also ask for a PIN or security code, often under a scratch-off strip or printed on the back. Enter these only on the official True Value website or phone line โ€” we never ask for your card number or PIN.

What if my True Value balance won't load or looks wrong?

Re-enter the card number and PIN carefully, since one wrong digit or a stray space is the most common cause. A brand-new card can also take a little while to activate. If the balance still looks wrong, ask a True Value cashier or contact True Value directly and have your receipt handy.

Does my True Value gift card expire?

Under federal rules a store gift card can't expire within five years of the date it was purchased or last loaded, and inactivity fees are only allowed after 12 months without use. State laws can be stricter, and promotional or bonus cards may expire sooner, so check the terms on your True Value card. (Source: CFPB Regulation E, ยง1005.20)

What should I do if my True Value gift card is lost or stolen?

Contact True Value as soon as possible โ€” ask a True Value cashier or contact True Value directly โ€” and share your receipt or card number if you have it. Replacement policies vary by issuer and often depend on proof of purchase, so keep a photo of the card and receipt.

Someone asked me to pay with a True Value gift card. Is that a scam?

Yes. No legitimate business or government agency will ever demand payment in gift cards. If you already shared the numbers, contact True Value right away and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Read our gift card scam guide for what to do next.
